Zimmerman Says Luxury Dorms Teach College Students Wrong Lesson

Writing in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Jonathan Zimmerman, professor of the history of education at NYU Steinhardt, describes the recent construction of multi-million dollar luxury dormitories on college campuses as troubling.

"By providing really nice things for our kids, we're teaching them to expect such goodies as their due. And we're forgetting the older collegiate ideal, which prized the life of the mind over the lure of materialism."
