Noguera Says Non-Education Issues Hindering Public Schools

Pedro Noguera, appearing on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360°” on Jan. 8, says the problems public schools face are caused by factors that go beyond the classroom.

“Many of the problems that schools face aren't really education problems,” he said. “They're really problems caused by poverty, problems caused by families that are in distress and families that don't have health insurance. Kids who are hungry don't do that well in school, and we have lots of kids in America who are hungry.”
