Journalism Professor Michael Pollan approaches the “incredibly complicated and confusing question” of nutrition and what is best for humans to eat with what he intends to serve as rational advice in a Jan. 28 New York Times Magazine story. He acknowledges, however, that nutrition cannot be analyzed simplistically.
In the story, Marion Nestle comments that “the problem with nutrient-by-nutrient nutrition science is that it takes the nutrient out of the context of food, the food out of context of the diet, and the diet out of context of lifestyle.”
Pollan sums up his article with nine user-friendly pieces of advice for making wise food and lifestyle choices to point people in the right nutritional direction.
