Metro Center Receives $3.1 Million Grant to Create, Operate Bilingual Ed. Center
The Metropolitan Center for Urban Education has received a five-year, $3.1 million grant from the New York State Education Department Office of Bilingual Education and Foreign Language Services (OBE/FLS) to establish and operate a state-wide Spanish language Bilingual Education Technical Assistance Center.
The Center is intended to support the improvement efforts in districts and schools on behalf of the English language learners (ELL), with the overall goal of reducing the achievement gap among the ELL students.
Pedro Noguera is the project’s principal investigator.
