Classical Voice Faculty: Edith Bers

Edith Bers is a member of the graduate faculty at New York University. She has studied voice with Tourel, Callas, Popper, Berl, Buth, Faull, Cuenod, Brown, Hotter and Stader, and acting with Stella Adler. Among her performance credits are the United States premiere of Schumann’s Des Sangers Fluch and the television production of Britten’s The Turn of the Screw. Ms. Bers has served as an auditor for the New York State Council on the Arts. She has conducted master classes for the Symposium on the Care of the Professional Voice, Metropolitan Opera Auditions and the Korean Broadcasting System. Ms. Bers has served as an adjudicator for the Concert Artists Guild, Metropolitan Opera Auditions and the Queen Elizabeth International Music Competition (Belgium). She has been a member of the faculty of Manhattan School of Music since 1983 and The Juilliard School since 1985, serving as chair of the Voice Department from 1991-1995. Professor Bers received her B.A. and M.A. from Columbia University.
