Classical Voice, Music Theatre, and Educational Theatre Faculty: Anna Winthrop

Anna Winthrop is a versatile singer equally at home in classical, musical theater, jazz, and contemporary genres, and has been awarded by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts for outstanding vocal achievement. As an actress, Anna’s New York theater credits include The Musical of Musicals, The Musical! (New World Stages, June/Abby standby), The Pirates of Penzance (City Center, Isabel), The Bald Soprano (Abingdon Theater, Mrs. Smith) Home (West End Theater, Dorothy), and Christmas Guest (Dorothy Streslin Theater, nominated for best actress in a play for her portrayal of Faith, MITF Awards). She has also performed roles in numerous musicals and plays regionally (Goodspeed Opera House, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Seaside Music Theater, Ohio Light Opera and Theater of the Stars) as well as in National and European tours. Additional Opera and Light Opera credits include Cosi Fan Tutte (Despina), Street Scene (Rose), and The Medium (Mrs. Nolan), while television credits include guest appearances on Guiding Light and Saturday Night Live.

Anna is a member of Actors Equity Association, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, the Screen Actor’s Guild and the New York Singing Teachers Association. She holds degrees in vocal performance and pedagogy from Oberlin Conservatory and New York University, and is also a pianist and composer. Most recently Anna has been devoting her time to songwriting, and maintains an active and diverse recording and performance career.
