Faculty: Johnny Anzalone

Johnny Anzalone is from Louisiana where he graduated with a degree in special education from Southeasten Louisiana University.  When he moved to New York, he earned a scholarship with the American Dance Machine and toured Steps with their performing company in Japan. Over the years, Johnny has toured various shows: West Side Story in Europe, the national production of La Cage Aux Folles, and the revival of Chicago. Subsequently, Johnny joined the Broadway company of Cats where he purred for five years. He also performed in the Broadway workshops of Legs Diamond and Fosse.  After he completed a master’s degree in Dance New York University's Gallatin School, he joined the modern dance company Laura Dean Dancers and Musicians where he performed at The American Dance Festival and a season at New York’s Joyce Theater. In 2002, Johnny joined the faculty of NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development where he currently teaches jazz and musical theatre dance. He also teaches yoga and fitness in the Virgin Islands for Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, Simon and Schuster Publishing, and some of New York’s most popular health clubs.
