Our curriculum is designed for the accomplished young singer who seeks a program that fully integrates the study of voice with the study of acting. We're committed to teaching vocal techniques that are sustainable while creating an environment that allows you to explore styles ranging from classical through musical theatre, as well as other contemporary repertoire expected of today's professional singers. You will take acting, dance, and voice training classes taught by working professionals in the industry.

You will complete a range of liberal arts core courses, including introductory study of the humanities, social sciences, science, and quantitative reasoning, as well as complete core music classes in music history, music theory, aural comprehension, and keyboard skills. You'll also have the opportunity to take elective courses in music technology, music business, and music education.

The core of our music theatre specialization training – along with private voice study, acting, dance, music theatre repertoire, and music theatre history – lies in a series of intensive performance skills workshops that explore such critical areas as movement, speech, diction, song study, scene study, audition skills, and business skills: essential tools of the trade you'll need to pursue your professional career. You'll also have opportunities to cross traditional lines to take classical voice training and participate in opera workshops and fully staged opera productions.

In addition to work in classrooms and studios, we offer performance opportunities in fully staged productions under the guidance of professional directors, choreographers, conductors, musical directors, and designers. Our guest artists and faculty are drawn from New York's vibrant community of professional artists who count among their credits Broadway, off-Broadway, regional theatre, and national tours.

You will find here a supportive community of performers who work with you and celebrate your successes. As your terminal degree experience, you’ll perform a senior recital. In addition, you will make your New York City debut in your final semester when you are presented to agents, casting directors, directors, and producers in our Graduation Showcase, a revue designed to feature the work of each student and help you make your first professional contacts in the industry.
