Program Overview
Private Lessons, Coachings, Diction, and Master classes in the vocal music of Spain, South America and Latin America, for singers and collaborative pianists.
This three-week intensive program gives singers and collaborative pianists the opportunity to be immersed in the study of Spanish-language vocal music, including songs and zarzuela. With a faculty specializing in the repertoire and its interpretation, students have the opportunity to take lessons and classes for university-level credit and to perform their chosen repertoire in master classes and a final public concert. The final concert will take place in the Black Box Theatre in Pless Hall.
A typical daily schedule will include a private lesson, a Spanish diction class, Spanish Vocal Repertoire performance class, and a specialized master class. NYU faculty members will include Rosa Vento, Jeremy Aye, Grant Wenaus, José Parodi, Brian Gill, and Lori McCann
Find out more about faculty at the NYU music homepage.
HOUSING
Students stay in shared rooms in an NYU residence hall with one or two roommates. The residence hall is located near Washington Square Park, a short walk from campus buildings. The housing and meals cost includes a meal plan of 10 meals per week and a card with $25 declining dollars. Participants can eat meals in campus dining halls, Monday-Friday. Students should bring long (80 inch) twin bed size flat and fitted sheets, blankets, bedspreads, pillows, and their own towels. The residence hall building has air conditioning and Internet access with an Ethernet cable.NYU Public Safety Services officers are on duty 24 hours a day.
Because our standards for achievement are high, we accept highly motivated students who will enjoy the classes as well as the cultural activities. It is, therefore, important to know that failure to comply with regulations will be grounds for immediate dismissal from the program.
