Barry Greenhut

Barry Greenhut received a Bachelor's of Science degree in physics, with a concentration in acoustics, from Stanford University. He has also received a Master's degree in music composition from NYU Steinhardt.

Mr. Greenhut began performing music professionally in 1978, and started composing, producing and engineering a few years later. After a career in popular music, he turned to composing operas, including A HARLOT'S PROGRESS, a chamber opera based on William Hogarth's engravings ("Striking, timely and admirable art" - New York Times), and BODY OF CRIME, a number opera about women in prison ("A work of savage magic" - Village Voice).
