Program Description

Summer Institute for Woodwind Studies

Performance, Entrepreneurship, Arranging, Electronic Media

Spend a week in New York City at New York University performing, collaborating, and creating music with renowned NYU faculty and music industry professionals.  Your daily routine will consist of a variety of musical activities including focus on lessons, chamber music, electronic media, arranging, and doubling. Our Summer Institute for Woodwinds grants its participants the opportunity to not only work on performance but to enhance various skills all of today’s successful musicians need. 

All flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and saxophone players are encouraged to apply.


The workshop's faculty will be selected from the current roster of NYU Woodwind Studies faculty. This year's faculty will include:

Esther Lamneck, Matt Sullivan, Kaitlyn Walker and Chris Bush

Artists in Residence - Quintet of the Americas and Esther Lamneck


Below are all costs associated with the Double Reed Teen Workshop:

  • Tuition: $850
  • Application Fee: $50; nonrefundable and paid at the end of the 2015 Summer Application
  • Housing & Meal Plan (optional): $381 shared room with 10 meals and 30 Dining Dollars. See the Housing and Meal Plan page for more information

Apply and Audition

The program is intended for participants 13 to 19 years of ageIf you would like to be considered for the workshop, you must complete the following:

  • Complete a 2015 Summer Application
  • Submit all Audition Requirements and supplemental materials (see NYU Summer Double Reed Teen Workshop)
