Intended For: High School Students, Undergraduates, Graduate Students, and Professionals

Program Description & Faculty

Participate in an intensive week of brass ensemble and private instruction in New York City.  You will have the opportunity to study brass chamber music with NYU's brass faculty, as well as principal players from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, New York City Opera, and various Broadway shows. A special feature this year will be studying and rehearsing music from a hit Broadway show, culminating in the attendance of a performance of that show.

The program is intended for participants 16 years and older. Applicants under 16 will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Program Costs and Fees

Below are all costs associated with the Summer Brass Workshop:

    • Tuition: $850
    • Application Fee: $55; nonrefundable and paid at the end of the 2017 Summer Application
    • Housing & Meal Plan (optional): $410 shared room with 10 meals and 30 Dining Dollars per week
    • International Students have additional Visa and/or participation fees
Accepted students will confirm their attendance once they have paid the enrollment deposit (detailed instructions provided in acceptance email). Residential students will have successfully registered for housing once they have paid the housing deposit and completed the housing application (sent via email after student confirms their attendance).

Application Information

A completed application consists of:

  1. A 2017 MPAP Summer Application
  2. Correctly uploaded audition materials in Get Acceptd and a $55 application fee (paid at the end of Acceptd)

Audition Requirements

The program is intended for participants 16 years and older. Applicants under 16 will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to be considered for the workshop, you must complete the following:
  • Submit a recording of you performing a solo or section of solo no more than five minutes, and two contrasting etudes. Advanced students may also submit three excerpts in place of the two etudes.
