
Exams Information
Placement exams in music theory, ear training, and music history are required of students entering all graduate programs in music (excluding Music Business students who do not take these tests; Music Therapy students only take the Theory test).
Music undergraduates or any other undergraduates planning to take courses in the music theory and aural comprehension curriculum are required to take placement exams in music theory and ear training only, not in music history .

Theory, Aural Comp, and Music History Dates for Incoming Undergraduate and Graduate Students
Advance sign-up is not required. Undergraduates and graduates take the same theory and ear training placement exams; only graduate students take the history exam.
