Zhang Zhi was born in Yangzhou, China and is a first year Master’s candidate in NYU’s Program in Vocal Performance studying classical voice in the studio of Dr. Brian Gill.
She completed her five-year undergraduate degree in vocal performance at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music where she also studied and performed in the Xiaoyan Zhou Opera Center. As a senior, she performed the role of Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor and performed French art songs in the “Night of Art Song Concert”.
In 2012 she participated in the China Xia’men International Vocal Master Class and performed in concert. In July of 2011, she participated in master classes and concerts in the Lingua e Lirica Italiana in Italy with Kent Smith and Tom Jaber.
This past semester at NYU she participated in a master class with Håkan Hagegård and performed in the Chamber Music concert.
