Sophia Sapronov is a junior in the NYU Steinhardt Program in Vocal Performance studying music theatre in the studio of Dr. Scott Murphree. She was born and raised in the metro-Atlanta area. With the encouragement of her parents she studied dance and music for 15 years; in high school, she decided to pursue the arts professionally.
At NYU Steinhardt she has performed in City of Angels (Margaret/Stand-In), Fiorello! (Cutie/Heckler), The Most Happy Fella (Dance Ensemble), and Sweet Smell of Success (Ensemble). Regional credits include Hairspray at the TriArts Sharon Playhouse and Child’s Play with the 13th Street Repertory Company. Other favorite credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Helena), Anything Goes (Bonnie), Much Ado About Nothing (Leonardo), and The Sound of Music (Maria). In March 2013, Sophia will play Maria in the Tisch New Theatre student production of West Side Story in the Skirball Center.
