Asha Nelson-Williams, a native of Brooklyn, is an undergraduate junior in the Program in Vocal Performance studying classical voice in the studio of Rosa Vento.
At the age of three, Asha discovered that singing was her passion and pursued it through high school. She attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia Arts High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts as a vocal major where she peformed in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers and Victor Herbert's Naughty Marietta. In her freshman year at NYU, she competed in the National Association of Negro Musicians vocal competition. Her NYU credits include Beguiled Again and Fiorello!.
Asha will be performing as Cherubino in NYU's spring 2013 production of The Marriage of Figaro.
