A native of Carthage, New York, Jonathan Busch is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in horn performance at NYU, where he studies with Philip Myers. He has participated in a wide variety of ensemble works, gaining experience with all types of music from classical to post-modern.
Jonathan has performed with the New York State Band Director’s Association All State Band, the New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble, the NYU Symphony Orchestra, the NYU Brass Choir, and various chamber ensembles, as well as actively subbing in ensembles throughout NYU and the New York City area. He has played under the baton of Constantine Kitsopoulos, Dr. Peter Boonshaft, Jens Georg Bachmann, Ari Pelto, and other renowned conductors. He has participated in master classes and sectionals led by Philip Myers, Thomas Hoyt, John Rojak, Per Brevig, Barbara Oldham, Ann Ellsworth, and others.
Jonathan aspires to pursue a career in orchestral horn playing. He includes Philip Myers, Myron Bloom, and George Szell as major influences. His hobbies include studying scores, listening to music, Game of Thrones, and relaxing.
