Student Bio: Yuuji Anderson

Yuuji Anderson was born in Tokyo, Japan. After moving to the United States, he began studying the piano at the age of five. His initial teachers were Christina Kiss and Olga Stephanova. He has performed extensively from an early age in many venues, incluing several appearances at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. At age seventeen, he received the honor of being a featured performer in a local high school benefit concert. The program consisted of collaborations with renowned classical artists such as clarinetist Richard Stolzman and members of the New York Philharmonic. The night concluded with him performing a four-hand piano piece with Grammy Award-winning artist Emanuel Ax.
Yuuji has spent several summers at the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina. During his time there, he was under the tutelage of Dr. Bruce Murray and has performed often in many of the festival’s events. Currently, Yuuji is a junior in the Steinhardt School at New York University where he studies privately with Eduardus Halim. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Performance as well as a minor in Law and Society.
