Summer Programs Piano

The Competitive Edge: Intensive Piano Etude Workshop
July 21- August 1

Designed for competition-bound young pianists, this intensive workshop offers an intense but friendly atmosphere for college-level students. Pianists perform daily in a supportive yet competitive environment, working six days weekly with sought-after NYU Artist Faculty members Miyoko Nakaya Lotto and Jose Ramon Mendez. Valuable performance opportunities involve nightly studio classes, masterclasses with guest artists, recitals in New York City and Southampton, and a final concert at NYU’s historic Loewe Theatre.

NYU High School Experience: The Art of Solo and Collaborative Piano

July 28 – August 1

Pre-college pianists receive private lessons and rehearse in small ensembles, learning the arts of solo and chamber music performance with experienced NYU-Steinhardt string players and coaching with pianists Miyoko Nakaya Lotto, Jose Ramon Mendez and Stephanie Baer, Director of String Studies. Showcase performances will take place in New York City and Southampton. All participants will be invited to participate in the NYU-Steinhardt Young Pianists Competition, the winner of which will be featured in a New York recital the following season; cash prizes will be awarded to the winner and runners-up, selected by an NYU Artist Faculty jury headed by Marilyn Nonken, Director of Piano Performance Studies.
