Piano Faculty: Daniel Gortler

Acclaimed Israeli pianist Daniel Gortler has performed as a soloist with the Houston, San Francisco, New World, Atlanta, and Swiss Romande Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Philharmonic Orchestras of Israel and London, working with conductors such as  Zubin Mehta, Christoph Eschenbach, Michael Tilson Thomas, Valery Gergiev, Yoel Levi, Franz Welzer-Moest, Manfred Honeck, Justus Frantz, Dan Ettinger, Ilan Volkov, Steven Sloane, Mendi Rodan, Yoav Talmi, Noam Sheriff, Yuri Ahronovich and Leonid Grin.

Mr. Gortler has performed recitals in Wigmore Hall, London; 92Y, NY; Mogador, Paris and has taken part at the Houston, Jerusaelm, Luzern, Schleswig-Holstein and Verbier music festivals. As an avid chamber musician he has performed with Bo Skovhus, Nikolaj Znaider, David Garrett, Giora Schmitt, Steven Isserlis, Sharon Rostorf-Zamir, Daniel Johanson, Sylvia Schwarz and is a founding member of the Tel-Aviv Schubertiade.

Mr. Gortler studied the piano with Ms. Neomi Hacohen. He graduated from the Rubin Music Academy at Tel-Aviv University and the Musikhochschule in Hanover, Germany, studying in both with Professor Arie Vardi.

A 1987 laureate of the Vina del Mar, and a winner of the 1991 Bremen, Munich and Geneva competitions, Daniel Gortler is a professor of the Tel Aviv University's Buchman-Mehta Music School. He has made acclaimed recordings of works by Mendelssohn, Schubert and Schumann.
