Fabio Gardenal holds a Bachelor of Music from Sao Paulo University and an MA and Ph.D. in Piano Performance from New York University. In Brazil, Dr. Gardenal won numerous competitions and made his orchestral debut with the Sao Paulo State Symphony at age 17, playing Brahms's D minor Piano Concerto. In Europe, he studied chamber music in Berlin with Eberhard Finke, first cellist of the Berlin Philarmonic. He also toured Europe playing concerts under the auspices of Jeunesses Musicales.
Dr. Gardenal's concerts have been broadcast on radio in Paris, Sao Paulo and New York as well as on television in Brazil and Moscow. In Moscow, Dr. Gardenal was a scholarship student at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and performed at the Scriabin Museum. He continues to perform regularly throughout the United States, South America and Europe.
Dr. Gardenal has collaborated extensively with NYU's Chamber Music Society and NYU's New Music and Dance Ensemble. His major teachers include Caio Pagano, (the late NYU Steinhardt piano faculty member) Antonio Barbosa, (former NYU Steinhardt piano faculty member) Gregory Haimovsky, and Naum Starkman.
