During the audition for the Nordoff-Robbins Certification Course, we would like to hear you play the piano and/or guitar and sing. Your music can include classical pieces, popular songs, jazz, original music and other styles. We will ask you to improvise with us as we play various instruments. We wish to get a sense of you as a musician, especially your receptivity and ability to be responsive in the moment; your ability to hear musical potential as you play with another person; your ear training and harmonic knowledge.
The meeting is also an opportunity for us to get to know you as a person and professional as well as to sense your potential to do this work. We are interested in knowing why you would like to study with us. We encourage you to discuss your clinical experiences and you may wish to bring video or audio examples of work if appropriate. This is also a time for you to visit our Center, get to know us and discuss your concerns. We can answer any questions you might have about the courses and clinical studies involved in the training. We look forward to meeting with you and hope that you can feel free to be creative, to be yourself.
