New for Fall 2011, NYU opened additional wings for the Jazz and Piano Studies Programs in its Third Avenue North Building at 11th Street. The facilities include new sound-proof practice rooms as well as lecture halls, offices for professors and staff, and instrument lockers. Students living in the Third Avenue North residence hall need only walk downstairs to enjoy some of NYU's finest and newest, practice facilities.
"The new facilities at Third North allow students in Piano Studies to enjoy practice and private lessons in state-of-the-art rooms, which provide a secure and elegant home for our instrument collection. We have exclusive studios dedicated for duo piano work and concerti, and the new Gorodnitzki Studio offers a space for salons and lessons, as well as historical research.
"For courses in piano literature and performance practice, weekly program meetings, and colloquia, as well as our nationally regarded Artist Master Class series, the new classrooms provide an ideal environment for performance and lecture-presentations. Above all, the facility at Third North provides a sense of community for all those in the Piano Studies, where our Artist Faculty and students can work and learn side-by-side."
