Educational Theatre

Congratulations to the 2012 NYU Steinhardt Ed Theatre Scholars

Congratulations to Swortzell Scholars: Misha Hadar, Renee Morth (Hoffman), Joey Villemez; Vorenburg Fellows: Rachel Wolf and Jack Dod; and the Chung Scholar, Natalie Mack. Each student has received a tuition bursary to offset their studies.


Vorenburg Scholar:

Jack Dod is an actor, writer, director, teacher, and student in the Program in Educational Theatre, who involves himself in multiple disciplines; from acting in Theatrix! to playing guitar for Alice the Lookingglass Girl to designing sound for The Triangle Project, Jack always takes on diverse roles in an attempt to improve his skill set.  He is proud to be teaching playwriting elective courses at the Institute for Collaborative Education and will soon travel to Salvador, Brazil to do research on poverty and pediatric healthcare. Recently, Jack was named NYU’s Upperclassmen RA of the Month.

 

Swortzell Scholar:

Misha Hadar is a masters candidate at the EDTC program. He worked in Jaffa with an Israeli\Palestinian youth Theatre of the Oppressed group, and taught acting in a middle school just outside of Tel-Aviv. After graduation he intends to work with immigrant communities.

 




Chung Scholar:

Natalie Mack is a second semester ETED, Master's candidate. She was recently seen in The Triangle Project, and is currently playing Dromio of Ephesus in Shakespeare-to-go, NYU's traveling Shakespeare troupe. 

 

Swortzell Scholar:

Renee Morth has been the Theatre Practitioner at Lancaster Country Day School in Lancaster, PA for the past five years. She has recently directed a production of The Giver and is currently directing a production of Macbeth that will be performing in Glasgow, Scotland in the beginning of March.

 



Swortzell Scholar:

Joey Villemez is a summer-only EDTC Master's student.  During the school year he teaches middle school drama and dance in Atlanta, Georgia.  He holds a Bachelor's degree in Theatre from Georgia College & State University.

 

 

 

 

Vorenburg Scholar:

Rachel Wolf is a sophomore in the undergraduate Educational Theater program. A Southern California native, she is passionate about to acting, singing, dancing, traveling, scrapbooking, and working with young children.  She has most recently appeared onstage as Velvetsia in Winter Wedding at Theater for the New City.
