Q: Are auditions required to be accepted into the program?
A. Auditions are required for those applying to the undergraduate program, but they are not held for those wishing to gain admittance into the master's program. PhD applicants who are named finalists are required to do an interview by phone or in person.
Q: Can I apply past the posted deadline?
A. Undergraduate and PhD applicants are required to apply by the university deadline and late applications will not be considered. The Master’s program has a rolling admissions policy and students may apply at any time. It is suggested that those applying to the master’s program do so at least three to four months prior to the beginning of the semester they would like to enter.
Q: What are the prerequisites for entering into the program?
A. There are no prerequisites for the Undergraduate or PhD programs. Three of our graduate degree tracks have prerequisites attached to them; the EDTA track, the ETED track and the ETSS track. In the EDTA (teaching certification in theatre all grades) you are required to have earned 36 points in Drama, Theatre, Dramatic Literature or their equivalent. In the ETED (teaching certification in theatre all grades and English 7-12) you are required to have earned 30 credits in Theatre and 30 credits in English. In the ETSS (teaching certification in Theatre, all grades, and social studies, 7-12) you must have completed a minimum of 24 credits in Educational Theatre and a minimum of 24 credits in Social Studies.

Q: Is the GRE required for acceptance into the graduate programs?
A. The GRE is not required for any of our Master's programs, but it is required for the admittance into the PhD.

A. To speak with a representative of the program you can call our main line at (212) 998-5868 and they will set up an appointment time for any prospective student to speak with our program Graduate Assistant. The GA is a student in the program who works very closely with program faculty so they can give you a unique perspective about the Program in Educational Theatre.
