Lucy McLellan, MA, RDT, acquired her first MA in 1993 (Glasgow, Scotland) and her MA in Drama Therapy in 2004 from NYU Steinhardt.
Lucy McLellan is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) and a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT). Lucy also graduated from the International Trauma Studies Program at Columbia University in 2007.
Lucy is currently Program Director at Creative Alternatives of New York and leads drama therapy groups with diverse client populations, including female survivors of domestic violence, teenage mothers living in foster care and children diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorders.
Lucy has been a member of adjunct faculty in the Graduate Program in Drama Therapy since 2005, teaching a class in projective techniques each fall. She is also a faculty member of the Institute for Drama Therapy (IDT) in New York City. In addition, Lucy was recently elected to serve as Eastern Regional Representative of the National Association for Drama Therapy (NADT).
In 2005, Lucy co-authored The Education of the Drama Therapist: In Search of a Guide with Robert Landy and Sara McMullian in Arts in Psychotherapy, 32.
Lucy has presented at a wide range of mental health conferences and training forums including the annual NADT conference, the Shakespeare Forum at NYU’s Program in Educational Theatre, the Empire State Coalition of Youth and Family Services Conference, the Symposium on Music & Medicine at The Louis Armstrong Center for Music and Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center and the Sanctuary Program at Andrus Children’s Center.
