SPECIAL SUMMER OFFERINGS: Programs and Classes
In the summer of 2008, we offer special sequences for dance educators with related practical applications. The rich dance resources of New York City are incorporated into many facets of our summer dance offerings.

2008 Programs:
NEW PROGRAM: SUMMER BALLET INTENSIVE May 19 - June 6. Contact Susan Koff
The overall objective of the Summer Ballet Intensive is to improve students’ skill in, and understanding of, ballet as an experiential performing art. Class will begin with exercises on the floor to develop core strength, stamina, flexibility and correct alignment. These concepts will then be taken into standing exercises at the ballet barre, where the basic movement vocabulary of ballet will be introduced. This basic vocabulary is then taken into center floor practice, where students will learn to link steps with precision, appropriate energy, and flow in adagio (slow, sustained), petite allegro (small, quick) and grand allegro (large, traveling) sequences. Summer Ballet Intensive E89.1076/E89.2077

NEW PROGRAM: GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES ON DANCE EDUCATION July 14 - July 18. Contact Susan Koff Through dancing, dance making and curriculum writing, we will define dance education and then examine that definition from multiple global perspectives. The course will develop a philisophical stance on dance education. Not for credit and has no course number, NON CREDIT PROGRAM, FEE: $800
