Frederick Curry
is Program Administrator and adjunct faculty where his focus is on
technique and pedagogy and Laban Movement Analysis. He is also on the
faculty at the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New
York. Previously he has taught at Regional Center for the Arts,
Trollwood Performing Arts School, Swiss Youth Dance Festival, Laban
Youth Dance Platform, the Metropolitan Opera Guild's Creating Original
Opera In-School Residency Program and the Lee Strasberg Theatre and
Film Institute. He has danced professionally with New York-based
choreographers Nancy Zendora, Rod Rodgers, Rose-Marie Guiraud, Cathy
Ward, Renata Celichowska, Phyllis Rose and Elinor Coleman. His New York
theatrical credits include leading roles in The Vengeance of Mami Wata and Owl in Love.
His choreography has been presented at the American Dance Guild
Performance Festival, Berlin/NY Dialogues--Changing Landscapes, and
Ndere Center in Kampala Uganda. He was a 2006 U.S. State Department
Cultural Envoy to Uganda and serves on the National Dance Education
Organization's Board of Directors as Director of E-Communications.
Frederick holds an MA in Dance Education from NYU, a Professional Diploma in Community Dance from Laban Centre London, and is a Certified Movement Analyst through the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York. Email: Frederick.curry@nyu.edu
