James Celentano is an entrepreneur, business consultant, coach, and educator. He is managing partner at EnterGain LLC, a consultancy focused on enterprise growth. EnterGain empowers organizations to gain talent, scale, ability, and customers. James’ consulting experience includes serving in interim roles as COO and head of talent; recruiting manager through C-level professionals on behalf of client companies; coaching and training C-suite executives and teams on leadership, communication, negotiation and organizational effectiveness; spearheading strategic partnership selection and negotiation; and providing guidance to management teams on process and technology optimization.
In corporate and multi-divisional human resources (HR) leadership roles at The Madison Square Garden Company and at Warner Music Group, James has made a lasting impact for C-level executives and their organizations. He led diverse teams in a range of initiatives in talent acquisition, learning and development, total rewards, employee relations, compliance, HR systems, succession planning, merger integration, restructuring, and organization design.
James is an expert in professional services businesses that focus on human capital with an emphasis on serving the unique needs of the entertainment, technology, and service industry clients. In leadership roles at Extensis Group, Hudson Gain Corporation, and Korn Ferry Futurestep, he built businesses, launched new services, cultivated client relationships, and delivered solutions that impacted client growth, streamlined operations, and managed risk. In a hybrid operations and HR role, he redefined and implemented an entirely new service catalog as a Vice President at HR outsourcing firm Extensis Group while also serving the HR needs of 250 client companies with a total of 6,500 employees. He helped lead Korn Ferry’s Futurestep business from $0 to $80 million in revenue by launching its New York office, later heading its offices in the Northeast, and then heading new business development in North America for the division. James started his business career at Korn Ferry in research, executive search, and client management roles. James has served clients in the entertainment, technology, consumer, e-commerce, financial services, not for profit, education, and healthcare sectors.
James holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, a BA in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, and an SPHR certification.
James’ personal interests include family, mentoring, music, and mountain biking. James has shown a consistent commitment to mentoring young people, first as a volunteer, and later as a graduate level adjunct instructor. As a volunteer he created the New Business Incubator at the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), serving hundreds of small business owners and was awarded volunteer of the year in 2006. James has 10 years of graduate level adjunct instructor experience initially at the graduate human resources program at The New School, and currently at the master’s program in Music Business program at New York University’s Steinhardt School. James manages musical artist The Collection. And most importantly, James volunteers as a Patrol Advisor in his son’s Boy Scout Troop.
