Joseph Alessi gave a trombone master class for the Arctic Trombone Festival in Tromsø, Norway. The class was held at New York University via video/audio transmission and was made possible by a collaboration between NYU Steinhardt's Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions and the Music Conservatory in Tromsø.
A combined ensemble of students from the Juilliard School and NYU Steinhardt performed for the conference followed by Mr. Alessi's class. Alessi performed two pieces with piano, Roger Boutry's Cappricio and Confrey's Kitten on the Keys arr. Elkjer. Following the solo performances, Mr. Alessi performed a Blazhevich duet with Håkan Björkman, principal trombone in the Royal Swedish Opera Orchestra. Mr. Björkman listened to NYU students and, at the end of the event, a combined ensemble of Juilliard students and ATF participants performed Orlando di Lasso's Echo Song with Mr. Alessi conducting.
