Auditions

NYU Pipes and Drums

The NYU Pipes and Drums Band performs at University and other functions throughout the year, including graduation-week ceremonies at venues such as Yankee Stadium, Carnegie Hall, and Madison Square Garden. The band performs for dignitaries visiting the University, marches every year in the Tartan Day Parade, and has participated in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the 100th Anniversary of the dedication of Grant's Tomb.

The Band recruits from the vast New York University community, and welcomes all students, faculty, staff, and alumni to become members. Instructors encourage, support, and teach members at weekly practices to achieve a high level of playing ability. NYU students can earn elective credit by participation in the band program.

The Pipe Major is Brian Meagher, a prize-winning piper who has led the band since its first performance at the University's Founders Day celebration in 1991. The Drum Sergeant is Nicole Kavanaugh. The Pipe Sergeants are Julianne Brown and James Felder; the Quartermaster is John Henderson.

The band is supported by the Office of Academic Program Review.

For auditions, please contact both Brian Meagher and John Henderson.
