Choral Arts Society (meets Weds. 7 - 8:30pm)
The Choral Arts Society is the largest classical choral ensemble at New York University. For 130 years the Choral Arts Society has served the entire NYU community performing major works from the choral/orchestral repertoire. The Choral Arts Society at NYU offers singers an in-depth performance experience of large-scale choral works with special emphasis on works from the 19th and 20th centuries.
University Singers (no fall 2009)
A classically oriented choir, this ensemble is devoted to chamber repertoire from all periods. Enrollment is limited to 32 singers. The audition process includes performance of a solo song, language proficiency, tonal memory and sight-reading.
Women’s Choir (meets Tues. 7 - 8:30pm)
An ensemble of 60 voices devoted to the highest quality literature in a wide variety of musical styles. Auditions consist of a solo song, vocalization and tonal memory exercises.
Jazz Choir (Vocal Jazz Ensemble) (meets Mon. & Thurs. 6:45 - 8:15pm) Watch a recent performance here.
An ensemble of 20 vocalists. Repertoire is of high quality and is chosen to represent a wide range of jazz/contemporary periods and styles. Auditions consist of a solo song, improvisation to a 24 measure blues chorus, and sight-reading.
Madrigal Singers (meets Mon. 6:45 - 8:45pm)
Madrigal Singers is a small, coed ensemble of 10-12 singers dedicated to the joy of a capella singing. Challenging repertoire includes music from Renaissance to Rock and all things in between.
