Performing Arts Administration Faculty: Wende Persons

Wende Persons has over three decades of experience working in the performing arts, broadcast, recording, and classical music industries. She is the Managing Director of Classical Music Rising, a collaborative project of leading classical stations to shape the future of classical radio, and an adjunct professor at NYU Steinhardt where she teaches Marketing the Performing Arts. Previously she was a senior consultant with the New York City-based publicity, digital media and consulting agency 21C Media Group. Wende has done consulting work for Lincoln Center, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, New York Foundation for the Arts, American Public Media’s Classical Music Initiative, and the online classical music retailer ArkivMusic. Previously, she was web site manager for WQXR, Senior Director of Marketing for Universal Classics Group, Director of Promotion and Product Management for Deutsche Grammophon, Program Director and producer for WQED-FM in Pittsburgh, and Director of Public Relations and Marketing for Pittsburgh Opera. Wende has also worked at Wolf Trap, the Eastman School of Music, and as the Eastman Philharmonia's Orchestra Manager at the Heidelberg Castle Festival in Germany. She is the librettist of the opera Patience & Sarah by Paula Kimper, which premiered at Lincoln Center Festival in New York City. Born in Buffalo, NY, she holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in music education and English education from SUNY Fredonia and the University of Rochester.
