Irwin Z. RobinsonOn April 2, 2008, NYU Steinhardt’s Music Business Program presented Irwin Z. Robinson with its first Visionary Award.  The award honors a business figure for his or her “lasting impact on the music industry through innovative, effective, and creative business leadership.”

Barely one year old, NYU’s student chapter of the Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA) made a big splash at the annual conference this spring by winning the 2008 National MEISA Marketing Contest.
In the summer of 2007, a group of music industry executives from the UK and the US approached Professor Catherine Moore with a problem: their companies wanted to join forces to expand on their considerable success in the nightclub, DJ management, and advertising businesses but they could not find sufficient market data to help with their business decisions.

This year’s Music Business Program Annual Alumni Event brought together a group of outstanding NYU Music Business alumni for a panel discussion titled Fans, Bands, and Brands: Live Music Saves the Industry. This was followed by a “Q&A” session and a networking reception.  The event was attended by alumni, industry guests, faculty, and current students of the program.

Alumni on Stage - Spanning genres of rock, pop, neo soul, R&B, and jazz these alumni are infiltrating the music industry in more ways than one. They all have great websites, loyal fan bases, consistent tour schedules, and several album releases.
