Spanish Field Trip to "El Cantinero" Mexican Restaurant

Students at NYU Metro Center's Upward Bound and 1199 WorkForce Summer Academic Component Spanish classes were guests for lunch at local restaurant, El Cantinero. NYU Staff member, Ms. Esperanza McCarty, took the Spanish classes to the Mexican restaurant to enhance their learning by experiencing a bit of Mexican culture.

Inside El Cantinero, the class experienced authentic Mexican music of both traditional and contemporary varieties (including Mariachi) as well as décor expressive of Mexican culture. They also exercised their use of the language by reading the Spanish descriptions on the menu and ordering their food and beverages in Spanish
