Margary Martin, earned her Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning from the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at NYU in April. Dr. Martin has worked at the Metropolitan Center for Urban Education for 8 years, most recently as Director of Applied Research, Evaluation, and Policy. In that role, she oversaw a number of research projects including research on the educational trajectories of Black males in New York City and the Out of School Time opportunities available to them. In addition, she was one of the lead researchers on the Black and Latino Males in Single Sex School study. Martin’s Ph.D. research examines how educational settings facilitate and hinder the implementation of multicultural and responsive curriculum and pedagogy, and academic engagement for immigrant-origin, minority youth. She is currently served as Director of Immigration Studies
Marilyn Anne Sommer, Assistant Director of Upward Bound, has been elected to serve as a Board Member-at-Large for the Association for Equality and Excellence in Education

Senior Associate Roey Ahram and Deputy Director Edward Fergus have a contributing chapter in a new book, Inclusive Education, published by the Equity Alliance Team at the Arizona State University. The book includes a collaboration of research teams from nine nations on five continents to produce a thoughtful examination of the ways in which inclusive education informs, influences transformed by local practices.
