We are pleased to announce that the NYU Steinhardt Metropolitan Center for Urban Education will administer the new NYS Language Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network, one of 8 statewide centers, for the duration of the NY State Education Department Contract - Feb 2012 to June 2013.

The purpose of the RBERN at NYU (formerly known as BETAC) is to provide ongoing support to educators of English language learners in districts and schools statewide.

The mission of the NYS Language RBE-RN is to develop and strengthen the skills, knowledge, and competencies of educators, parents and local communities, provide technical assistance, professional development and resource materials to support academic achievement of LEP/ELLs, and support NYSED’s commitment to higher standards for all students.  In addition, the NYS Language RBE-RN will serve to support the Commissioner’s Race to the Top initiatives and Regents Reform Agenda activities.
