The Metro Center Tutoring Programs (MCTP) put graduate students to work as instructional mediators in elementary, middle, and high schools during the school day. Instructional Mediators work with students individually or in small groups depending on the program. Subject areas include reading, math, social studies, history, and science. Undergraduate students work as instructional mediators after school in our Extended Day Program.They work with students individually or in small groups in the area of literacy.
Statistical Data: Among the twenty-eight current School day instructional
mediators, 86% graduate students in Steinhardt, 14% are graduate students in the
Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Of the eleven current Extended Day
Instructional Mediators, 64% are undergraduate students in Steinhardt and 36%
undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences.
