Steinhardt has been selected by the Board of Education as a recipient of a Cheektowaga Central Community Involvement Award for 2009 in the Business/Agency/Organization Category.

Cheektowaga's superintendent, Mrs. Delia G. Bonenberger, stated "The Steinhardt School of Education was nominated for the Sixth Annual Community Involvement Awards by Mrs. Gretchen Sukdokak, Union East Principal because of Metro Center's significant contributions to the students of the Cheektowaga Central School Districts."

Dr. Edward Fergus, Metro's Deputy Director, received the award at the Board of Education Meeting on Tuesday, January 12, 2010.
