Campus Media
Faculty who need A/V equipment set-up in classrooms on a regular basis should request equipment via NYU Campus Media. Darrell Carter can assist you in making these requests.
If you wish to see what type of A/V support a particular classroom or conference room has available, search Campus Media's Classroom Database.
Media Lab
The Media Lab loans out A/V equipment for occasional classes and department-wide presentations and projects. For more details on the Media Lab, have a look at the Media Lab FAQs.
To request Media Lab assistance or reserve equipment, email the Media Lab. Please do not stop by staff offices to make requests. The Media Lab team will receive your request, you will receive a response within 1 business day.
NOTE: The Media Lab does not set up equipment in classrooms. Faculty, PhDs, and staff are responsible for pick-up, set-up, and return of equipment.
Blackboard
Below are some very basic instructions for setting up your Blackboard site.
For help with technical issues that are not covered here, visit ITS' Blackboard for Faculty pages.
Request your course
Login to NYUHome and click on Academics. This is where your course will be located once it is set up. Under "Blackboard Courses,", click on "Request a course for this semester." It should only take 24 hours or so. ITS will populate the course with all of the students who are formally registered.
Add Content
Click on Course Documents > Edit View or Course Information > Edit View
Under the Course Documents header, you should see "Add" and a choice of Item, Folder, etc. - click on "Item".
Scroll down to "Content" and browse for the file you wish to add (as when adding an attachment to an email)
Enter a "Name of Link to File" if you want it to be anything other than the original file name.
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click "Submit".
Change the appearance of your Blackboard page
(limited customization, but navigation can be changed)
Click on Control Panel (under the purple buttons on the left hand side) >
Course Options (third box down on the left) > Manage Course Menu
Make your course available to students
Click on Control Panel > Settings > Course Availability
This is important! Students will not be able to access the course until you complete this step.
Email the Class
Click on Communications > Send Email
Note: Most of your questions about Blackboard can be answered by ITS and on the ITS web pages. If you are having trouble communicating with ITS, send an email to the Media Lab and we will try our best to assist you.
