Transportation to the IMC/COMBI Summer Institute

IMC/COMBI participants must arrange their own transportation from the airport.  Transportation options are provided below:

Taxi (Recommended)

  1. From LaGuardia Airport (LGA) there is not a standard fare and the trip cost would be determined by the meter. Tip is usually added to the amount of the ride and should be 15%. Typically, your fare should range between $38-$48 without toll and tip. Take only the yellow taxis from the airport. There are other drivers at the airport who will offer rides into Manhattan, but they are not reliable and will try to charge you much more for the ride.
  2. If you arrive at Newark Airport (EWR) in New Jersey, take a white taxi. The fare from Newark will be about $50 to $75.

 

Public Transportation (Not recommended for multiple pieces of luggage)

From JFK Airport:

    1. From baggage claim, follow signs to the AirTrain ($5) Take the AirTrain in the direction of the Howard Beach A Train Station, toward Manhattan. You can purchase a subway card at this station ($2.75) using cash or credit card.
    2. Stay on the A-train until Broadway Junction Station, and then switch to a Manhattan bound L-train and take into Manhattan.
    3. If you have requested and paid for NYU housing, take the L-Train to 3rd avenue stop in Manhattan. NYU Residence Hall Palladium is at 140 E. 14th Street (between 3rd and 4th Avenues, near Union Square).
    4. If you have arranged alternate housing, take L-train into Manhattan and transfer to the Subway Line that is closest to your housing location.

 From LaGuardia:

    1. From baggage claim, follow signs to the M60 bus. Exact change ($2.75) is required.
    2. The bus will connect to the subway at Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Avenue.
    3. If you have requested and paid for NYU housing, Take the Manhattan-bound R train to 14th St-Union Square. NYU Residence Hall Palladium is at 140 E. 14th Street (between 3rd and 4th Avenues, near Union Square).
    4. If you have arranged alternate housing, take R-train into Manhattan and transfer to the Subway Line that is closest to your housing location.

 From Newark:

    1. From baggage claim, follow signs to AirTrain Newark. Take the monorail to the NJ Transit Newark Liberty Airport Station and transfer to a New York Penn Station bound NJ Transit Train.
    2. Take NJ Transit Train to New York Penn Station (Approximately 25 minutes and total cost should be around $13). At New York Penn Station, purchase a subway card ($2.75).
    3. If you have requested and paid for NYU housing, Take the downtown A-train to 14th Street stop. At 14th Street station, transfer to the L-Train and take it for 3 stops to the station 3rd Avenue. Exit station at 3rd ave and walk to residence hall. NYU Residence Hall Palladium is at 140 E. 14th Street (between 3rd and 4th Avenues, near Union Square).
    4. If you have arranged alternate housing, take NJ Transit Train into New York Penn Station in Manhattan and transfer to the Subway Line that is closest to your housing location.
