Congratulations and welcome to NYU! Here are a few brief notes which will help you make your decision and prepare you for the Fall 2014 semester.
Welcome Student Reception
We would like to invite you to a welcome event for admitted MA students in the Humanities and Social Sciences department, of which the International Education program is a part. The lunch will take place on Thursday, April 10th, at 5:00PM. The admissions office will send you an invitation shortly.
Registration and Advisement
In April, after you formally accept our offer and submit your deposit, you will receive a Welcome Letter (via email) from the director of the program, Leanna Stiefel, with all relevant information regarding registration and advisement. As well, your fall course options will be detailed. Once you receive this letter, the information will also be readily available online under “New Students.”
Letizia La Rosa and Erinn Bernstein will be your academic advisors during the course of your program at NYU. You are welcome to meet with them in person or over the phone before the start of the semester. The Welcome Letter will outline which courses you should take in your first semester of study. Once you have selected your courses, please send us an email with your tentative schedule so that we may approve your courses and clear you for registration.
More information about Registration can be found on the Registrar's website, at http://www.nyu.edu/registrar/registration/
Orientation will take place on Tuesday, September 2nd, at 9:00AM. All new students are required to attend this orientation, during which you will receive information about the program requirements and the degree process. More details will be listed in the Welcome Letter, and on our website at http://steinhardt.nyu.edu/humsocsci/policy/new_students/events.
First Day of Classes
The first day of classes will be Tuesday, September 2nd. Prior to the first day of classes, you should go to the NYU Card Center to get your NYU photo ID card. The NYU Card Center is located at 383 Lafayette Street (Corner of E. 4th and Lafayette St). You should submit a photo to the NYU Card Center before picking up your card. See more detailed instructions here.
