INEE Minimum Standards for Education:
Preparedness, Response, Recovery
One-Day Training Workshop
Sunday, March 3rd, 2012 @ 9.00am-3.30pm
144 Horace Mann; Teachers College
525 West 120th Street
Education is a fundamental human right for all people, but it's especially critical for the tens of millions of children and youth affected by conflict and disasters around the world. In emergency situations, schooling is often significantly disrupted, denying learners the protective and transformative effects of quality education.
What are the INEE Minimum Standards?
The INEE Minimum Standards for Education aim to:
- Enhance the quality of educational preparedness, response, and recovery.
- Increase access to safe and relevant learning opportunities.
- Ensure accountability in providing these services.
Developed through a highly collaborative and consultative process, the INEE Minimum Standards is the only global tool that articulates the minimum level of educational quality and access in emergencies through to recovery.
What can I expect from the training?
Participants will learn:
- Why education is a crucial part of humanitarian response, and what education in emergencies looks like in the field.
- The role of INEE in promoting humanitarian accountability, transparency, and quality.
- The range and applicability of the INEE Minimum Standards.
Participants will also receive a free copy of the INEE Minimum Standards Handbook.
