CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT and CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 2002 NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE TO STRENGTHEN HIV/AIDS EDUCATION AND COORDINATED SCHOOL HEALTH PROGRAMS

Healthy Kids-Healthy Communities:
Integrating Health and Education

CDC's Division of Adolescent and School Health and the Society of State Directors of Health, Physical Education and Recreation invite school health faculty, administrators, planners, policy-makers, and staff;  health, physical education, and pre-service educators; state and local program planners, policy-makers, and administrators; school district personnel;  school nurses and student counselors; HIV prevention educators; peer educators; Safe and Drug-Free Schools Coordinators; community organizers and staff of national non-governmental organizations;  and all in the community with an interest in healthy youth to the CDC 2002 National Leadership Conference and to submit abstracts for the conference at this time.  The annual Leadership Conference is where the nation's leading thinkers and doers in school health meet, network, learn, and set new directions for school health and healthy youth efforts.

The web sites below will be operative no later than August 1, 2001.

* The CALL FOR ABSTRACTS is now open and will close on
August 31, 2001.

The Conference Steering Committee will consider all abstracts addressing
HIV/AIDS education or coordinated school health, as long as they are submitted in compliance with the criteria and requirements (more fully
described in the official Conference Announcement and Call for Abstracts -
see Web, telephone, and fax information below). Of particular interest for
this year's conference are abstracts addressing the conference topic:
Healthy Kids-Healthy Communities: Integrating Health and Education.
