WHAT'S NEW!!
Web Site and On-Line Discussion Forum on Teen PregnancyPrevention
Are you a teacher, health educator or, in general, involved in helping to
prevent teen pregnancy? If so, we have a web site you will find extremely
useful: ETR Associates' Resource Center for Adolescent Pregnancy
Prevention (ReCAPP) at: http://www.etr.org/recapp
About the Web Site
ReCAPP provides practical tools and information to effectively reduce adolescent sexual
risk-taking behaviors. You will find up-to-date material, including: current research and
statistics, learning activities, educator and youth skills, and much more. New material on
specific topics is added at the beginning of each month. Those interested in receiving
email updates of what's new on the site may subscribe to ReCAPP's electronic mailing list
at: http://www.etr.org/recapp/recappnotes.htm
On-Line Discussion Forum: May 8 - 10, 2001
New to ReCAPP this year is a quarterly on-line discussion forum, which gives participants
an opportunity to ask questions about what works, offer ideas and suggestions, and make
contacts with others in the field. Bob Belinoff, a national expert on social marketing and
media campaigns, will moderate ReCAPP's next forum on May 8 - 10, 2001. It will focus on
social marketing and is entitled "Unselling Sex: Conservative, Liberal and Radical
Approaches to Marketing Teen Pregnancy Prevention."
During the forum, we will discuss nuts and bolts, themes, logos, images, budgets, media
and how to choose vendors of communication services. Among other topics, we will also
discuss: unique outreach approaches that contrast sharply with "just-say-no"
advertising campaigns; how child development and marketing approaches can work together,
and how new digital media may be relevant to us as teachers, marketers, and practitioners
of public health.
