Tuesday, October 19, 1999, 2:00 to 4:00 PM Roybal Campus Auditorium B 1600 Clifton Road, NE Atlanta, GA 30033 In celebration of National Health Education Week, October 18 - 22, CDC's Public Health Education and Promotion Network (PHEP-NET) invites you to participate in for the first annual Health Education Day at CDC and ATSDR. Keynote speakers are Dr. David Sencer, CDC Director from 1966 to 1977, and Martha F. Katz, Deputy Director for Policy and Legislation at CDC. The first Awards for Excellence in Health Education will be presented as part of the celebration. Dr. Sencer, known for his enlightening and entertaining presentations, was the director of CDC when the Bureau of Health Education was first established in the agency. He also has served as Commissioner of Health in New York City and is recognized for his activities in international health. Martha Katz will speak on the present and future of Health Education at CDC and ATSDR. As a member of the executive management team, Ms. Katz provides leadership for CDC and oversees development of agency policies and programs. Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Katz served Senior Program Director of the CDC Foundation and as the Associate Director of Policy Planning and Evaluation for CDC, responsible for CDC's planning, budget and legislative priorities.
