Graduation Celebrations 2008

Important Graduation Updates

Dear Steinhardt Graduating Students,

Thank you for helping us make the decision to have both the Baccalaureate Ceremony and the Valedictory Celebration on Tuesday, May 13, 2008. We are fortunate that Radio City Music Hall was able to offer us this alternative date for consideration even so late in our planning.

Many of you expressed concern about not being able to attend both the University Commencement and the Steinhardt celebrations so, as you know, we took a quick poll of the total graduating class, both undergraduate and graduate. In coming to our final decision, we took into account factors such as timing for departmental receptions that are part of our tradition for celebrating your achievements, your concerns about getting from Commencement at Yankee Stadium to Radio City Music Hall "on time," and your responses to our survey.

We thank you for your input and for your patience as we came to what we believe to be the best possible solution given the circumstances. We know that some of you will be inconvenienced by this change. We hope, however, that as many of you as possible, along with your families and friends, will be able to join us in celebration at our newly scheduled time.

Sincerely,
Dean Mary Brabeck
