The LOI submission period has now ended. An independent committee is currently reviewing LOIs. Upon completion of their review, the committee will invite promising applicants or teams to submit full proposals. The decision will be communicated shortly.

The EQUAL Global Network is based at New York University‘s Global TIES for Children Center and New York University Abu Dhabi, and represents the education network of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network. EQUAL aims to engage researchers, research organizations, and education NGOs to support countries in achieving U.N. Sustainable Development Goal 4 and its targets (‘ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’) through development of researcher networks, research-practice partnerships, capacity and leadership development of scholars, and provision of research seed grants for targeted research activities.

The EQUAL Global Network is pleased to announce the launch of its first round of seed grants for small-scale and pilot research projects based in the Middle East, North Africa and Sub-Saharan African countries. This first round of seed grants is targeted to early career scholars as lead investigators in partnership with a mentor (senior investigator). These seed grants (total US$20,000 for each of the successful proposals) will focus on measurement of learning, development and quality of education, to inform policy relevant to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Targets 4.1, 4.2, 4.4, and 4.7.). The seed grants are intended to build regional research capacity, and support the development of research-practice partnerships with national and sub-national government entities and high capacity NGOs.

We are at this point soliciting Letters of Intent (LOI) from potential applicants to be submitted online by
5 p.m. (New York time) on August 21, 2017 to ihdsc.globalties (at) nyu.edu

An independent committee will review LOIs and invite promising applicants or teams to submit full proposals by September 15, 2017.

The award notification will be sent to successful applicants by February 1, 2018. The earliest project start date will be March 1, 2018
