Educational Communication and Technology, Assistant/Associate Professor, Tenure Track
The Program in Educational Communication and Technology in the Department of Administration, Leadership and Technology invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track position on the assistant or associate professor level. The program offers masters and doctoral degrees that prepare individuals for leadership positions in the application of cognitive theory and related views of learning and instruction to the study and research, design and development, use, evaluation, and administration of technology-based learning environments. We are seeking an experienced individual with interdisciplinary interests in educational technology/learning sciences with a focus on the study of teaching and learning, and additional interests in either applied psychology, or cultural, health, or other applications in the wider media environment.
Responsibilities
The candidate will be expected to: collaborate with department and other NYU faculty in developing curricular, research and service initiatives; pursue an active research and publication agenda; engage in educational media design and development projects; teach graduate level courses; advise graduate students; direct masters theses and doctoral dissertations; and be an active member of the University and professional communities.
Required Qualifications
The candidate must have: an earned doctorate in educational technology, learning sciences, or related media technology field; interest in the study of teaching and learning, with a strong background in cognitive theory as related to the design and study of technology-based learning environments; the potential to design and engage in a program of interdisciplinary scholarship in educational technology, with the participation of graduate students; a record of developing and teaching graduate level courses on the foundations, design and development of technology-based learning environments; a record of applying cognitive theory, including constructivism, to the design and development of technology-based learning environments; knowledge of research methodologies, preferably with experience with both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include one or more of the following: experience designing and developing collaborative learning environments using advanced technologies; experience with the evaluation of technology-based learning environments; experience teaching in web-based learning environments; a record of developing successful proposals for funding; experience with K-16 technology integration; and an interest in urban applications and international collaborations.
Timeline
