School Psychology, Associate/Full Professor, Tenure-Track/Tenured

The Department of Applied Psychology offers an undergraduate degree in Applied Psychological Studies and graduate degrees in School Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology, and Psychological Development with faculty working in a variety of domains that include counseling, clinical, developmental, educational, health and social psychology. Our mission emphasizes the relationship between research and practice, broadly defined as clinical practice, policy, and community and school level interventions.

The Department of Applied Psychology seeks a psychologist with an innovative and rigorous program of research in understanding and improving the experience and development of children and youth in public schools and classrooms for a tenure line position at the Associate or Full Professor level.

Candidates for this position should be grounded in the scientist-practitioner model of training. We are particularly interested in individuals with strong interests in and commitment to one or more of the following topics: academic and socio-emotional development, equity, classroom and school assessment and change, prevention and evidence-based K-12 interventions. An active research agenda that includes work in schools and an active record of external funding are important. Licensed professional psychologists are preferred.

Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, advising and mentoring students, overseeing a research team, supervising doctoral dissertations, and supervising school-based practica

The mission of the Department of Applied Psychology at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture Education and Human Development is to prepare students to understand and intervene in human development across contexts and cultures. The opportunities for collaboration with scholars from multiple disciplines and local schools, agencies, and communities are numerous.
